Radiation Oncology Certification

Re-Certification In Radiation Oncology 2007
Initial Certification In Radiation Oncology 1997

Due to the rapidly changing field of radiation oncology, the American Board of Radiology has requested that all Radiation Oncologists take a recertification exam every 10 years, although older physicians are not required to do so.

Recertification is the only means by which the board has to determine if a physician has kept up with the changes in the current technology and treatment options.
By passing the recertification exam these radiation oncologists are demonstrating to the public, their peers, and colleagues that they have maintained current on the vastly changing field of radiation oncology.

You can read more about the changes that have been made in the talk Dr. Gwozdz prepared and gave to Amarillo physicians on IMRT.
